Casey Otremba was born in New York and was raised all over the United States. She returned to New York in 1998, attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and received her BFA in Animation from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. Casey has recently completed her MFA in Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland where she explored themes of abandoned buildings and fashion. She works as both designer and illustrator since she thrives on creative challenges. Work Casey has designed has been featured in Women’s Wear Daily, Lucky Magazine, and Time Out New York. Casey is currently designing and exploring fashion and portraiture in Princeton.

Casey’s work draws much of its inspiration from the photography of fashion magazines and photographers of the 1940s through the 1970s, there is also a sorrowful element in her work that is reflected in studying the fashion photographers of her generation.

“I would like my females to be both fragile and strong in their representations. There is a sense of nostalgia in them as well. I think that this comes from something deeper in the roots of my generation that all the outer trappings of commercialism can not help us escape.”
